Netham Park
Netham Park has huge potential to bring an incredibly diverse community together. 30% of the people we support through this project live in high-rise tower blocks and rely on their local parks for their health and wellbeing.
Supported by the National Lottery, Comic Relief, and the Society of Merchant Venturers we are working with local people to help build a greater sense of belonging and support local people to spend more time in Netham Park.
Walk and Talk
We partner with the Somali Resource Centre to provide weekly Walk and Talk sessions for the community to come together, practice speaking English and discover their park in a friendly and informal group.
“I live in Barton Hill and have seven family members. It’s a very large community that lives here. Before I used to feel isolated – now I feel more visible and feel included. I did planting and litter picking and arts and crafts, so many different things. I enjoyed it, taking in the fresh air and seeing the children happy makes me happy. To anybody thinking about get involved, just get out, ask questions, just get involved and don’t be shy as you can enjoy yourself.”
