Improving your health can be a walk in the park

To mark the 2023 Bristol Walking Festival, we are teaming up with Sense to bring more sensory walks to the city's parks.

Our 'Not just a check box' report found that Disabled people and unpaid carers experience feel happier and less stressed when they have a positive park visit, but there aren't enough free things to do.

We are calling for more sensory walks to be developed for parks. Whoever you are, you can help more people connect with your park with all five senses.

What is a sensory walk?

Sensory walks allow you to use your senses to connect with your surroundings whilst being active.

Sense have created a set of resources and training to support people to map, set up and lead their own sensory walks in their local community.

We would love to see more sensory walks available in time for Bristol Walking Festival.

Free training

Sense are running a workshop to improve your understanding of sensory walks, and how to plan safe and accessible walks, as well as top tips on activities that engage the senses.
