Ethical support policy

Who Your Park cannot work with

Your Park Bristol & Bath works with individuals, companies, trusts and foundations, partners and suppliers to support our mission: ensuring everyone can access parks' transformational health benefits.

We are grateful for the support we receive. However, we also have a responsibility to make sure that the money we accept, the partnerships we enter into and the organisations we work with do not conflict with our charitable purpose, values or the communities and environment we serve.

This policy explains how we make decisions about donations, sponsorship, partnerships, paid bookings, supplier relationships and other financial engagements.

Organisations we cannot work with

Before making a donation, booking a Team Day or entering into a partnership with us, please check whether your organisation falls into any of the categories below.

Your Park Bristol & Bath will not accept donations from, partner with, purchase services from, or knowingly enter into booking arrangements with any person or organisation that falls within our Red List.

The Red List:

We cannot financially engage with any person or organisation that is:

  • on the UN Sanctions List
  • directly associated with the manufacture of weapons with the primary purpose of being used against people
  • directly associated with the extraction of carbon-intensive fossil fuels, including thermal coal, oil shale and tar sands
  • directly associated with the manufacture, sale or use of products that are harmful to the environment, such as peat products
  • directly associated with the manufacture or supply of pornography
  • linked to allegations of exclusionary practices or illegal activity towards minoritised communities, including but not limited to people from ethnic minority backgrounds, Disabled people and women and girls

This applies to both income we receive and money we spend. It includes donations, sponsorship, partnerships, paid bookings, corporate Team Days, supplier relationships, venue hire and contracted services.

Support requiring review

Some organisations and individuals may not be automatically excluded, but will require additional due diligence before we can make a decision.

This includes those that are on The Amber List:

  • subsidiaries of companies that manufacture weapons with the primary purpose of being used against people
  • involved in manufacturing or supplying non-weapon-based products or services designed for use in conflict
  • manufacturers of tobacco-based products
  • manufacturers of e-cigarettes or nicotine-based products
  • manufacturers of alcohol
  • providers of gambling products or services

If your organisation falls within one of these categories, we may need to ask further questions before confirming whether we can accept support, proceed with a booking or enter into a partnership.

How we make decisions

We take a risk-based approach to due diligence. This means we consider the risks and benefits of each financial engagement, using our screening process and risk list. Decisions may be rated low, medium or high risk. Where concerns are identified, we may carry out further due diligence, add safeguards, escalate the decision or decide not to proceed.

Why we have this policy

Financial contributions and payments help us deliver our charitable work across Bristol and Bath. At the same time, we need to protect the trust of the people, communities, partners and supporters we work with.

Our policy helps us make consistent, transparent decisions so that our income, partnerships and spending do not compromise our mission, values or charitable purpose.
