Sensory Walks: experience your local park in a new way
As part of our Parks4All project, we are working with volunteers to lead Sensory Walks in their local parks, creating welcoming and inclusive opportunities for people to connect with nature in a gentle, accessible way.
Sensory Walks offer a different way to experience green space. Instead of focusing on distance or pace, they invite you to slow down and engage with your surroundings through your senses.
That might mean noticing birdsong, feeling different textures, observing colours and movement, or taking in the scents of the natural environment.
This mindful approach has been shown to support wellbeing, reduce stress and help people feel more connected to the outdoors. It removes pressure and opens up parks to people who may not feel comfortable with more traditional ways of using green spaces.

A more inclusive way to access nature
Each walk is led by a trained volunteer who is Disabled or a carer, bringing valuable lived experience. This helps create a supportive and understanding environment where people feel welcome, included and at ease.
The walks are free to attend and open to everyone. Whether you are new to spending time in nature or already enjoy being outdoors, you are invited to come along.
