Your Park supporter, Jason at Eden Bricks shares why parks matter to his business and why caring for nature requires long-term commitment.
Parks help people and wildlife thrive
Parks give people space to meet, play, relax and feel connected to the natural world. They can also improve mental health and wellbeing while providing vital habitats for pollinators, birds and other wildlife.
“Nature and biodiversity aren’t just wonderful to experience and be around; they also measurably improve our mental health and wellbeing,” says Jason at Eden Bricks, a Bristol-based property investment and development business working across commercial, retail and residential properties in the South West and UK.
“As a counter to today’s busy urban lifestyles, parks and the nature within them offer important spaces to meet, play, relax and feel connected to our world.”
Lasting change takes ongoing care
Eden Bricks was particularly drawn to Your Park’s focus on long-term stewardship.
“They’re improving parks to make them more accessible, biodiverse and beautiful. But they’re also acutely aware that this isn’t just a one-time job. Parks need consistent, ongoing care and maintenance,” Jason says.
“At Eden Bricks, we also focus on long-term stewardship for the real estate we invest in. Your Park is a perfect partner because its work goes beyond simply improving green spaces. It also activates, manages and nurtures parks as an ongoing commitment.”
This long-term approach is at the heart of our Nature Needs You campaign. Nature cannot thrive through planting alone. Wildflower meadows need managing, young trees need watering and protecting, ponds need maintaining, and volunteers need skilled support throughout the year.
The campaign aims to fund year-round nature sessions across more than 30 parks, involving over 500 local people in caring for habitats and wildlife throughout Bristol and Bath.
Businesses can make lasting local impact
Jason believes companies can play an important role by supporting both visible improvements and the less visible work that sustains them.
“A single day of planting or improving access can be visible and rewarding. But it’s the invisible work that follows that keeps these spaces beautiful and accessible,” he says.
“By supporting Your Park, you can help fund the equipment and regular community sessions that make that ongoing work possible. If you care about parks, nature and our communities, please consider supporting Your Park.”
Through our Park Champions programme, companies of all sizes can help create healthier communities, thriving urban habitats and more inclusive green spaces across Bristol and Bath. Partnerships can combine funding with meaningful staff volunteering while supporting biodiversity, wellbeing and social value goals.
